Advice to my Graduated Peeps

Hello everyone,

So, graduation was on Sunday and my best friend, as well as a lot of my friends from High School have now become high school graduates. This may be really cheesy, but I am going to give a little advice to the newly graduated friends of mine.

1) Be nice to your roommates: I had an experience with a not-so-nice roommate, and it was not-so-fun, so be nice to them. It will make your experience in the dorm rooms so much better.

2) Be organized: At least about classes. Get a planner or use some form of organization. Professors  don;t always tell you an assignment is due, so write EVERYTHING in your syllabus down at the beginning of the semester. I know from experience that missing an assignment can be pretty detrimental to your grade, so make sure you check!

3) Join a club: It makes your experience so much more fun and helps in making new friends.

4) Don't spend too much money: Money is important, don't waste it. Find things you can do for free. There are lots of these on campus.

5) Use the coupon book: This may just be UN-L, but at the Big Red Welcome, they give out these coupon books that have special deals for students. You can get discount food and haircuts and what-not. (The best of these is Papa John's because they don;t take the coupon and you can use it over and over :D)

6) Study: This is very important.

7) Don't catch the YouTube bug: Great site, bad idea to start watching if you haven't much in the past. It is very good at helping people procrastinate. I know I caught it. It has been fueling my procrastination ever since.

8) Find good friends but also keep in touch with your old ones.

9) Don't stress too much: Seriously, stressing out about a project or paper does not get it done, just do it.

10) Have fun!! College is meant to be a time to learn but also to make friendships and have fun before you have to go to work. So do it!!

This advice is not only good for new graduates, but also for people currently in college. I know, in the coming year, I will probably be referring back to this post a lot, because I need reminded as well. So, good luck all you new graduates! Best of luck in everything!

P.S. I finished my first summer book, so a review of it is under the Book of the Week tab, if you want to read my review of it.
